Program Overview

The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) offers fully funded scholarships to high-achieving students pursuing postgraduate research degrees at participating Australian universities. The program supports both Master’s by Research and Doctoral (PhD) candidates across a wide range of disciplines.

More than 40 top-ranked Australian universities participate in the RTP scheme, offering world-class research environments and supervision.

Financial Coverage

  • Annual stipend: AUD $33,511 (tax-free, 2025 rate)
  • Full tuition fee waiver (up to 2 years for Master’s, 4 years for PhD)
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • Travel allowance: AUD $1,000 (to/from Australia)
  • Thesis submission allowance:
    • AUD $840 for PhD
    • AUD $420 for Master’s
  • Medical leave and paid sick leave
